"Struction" Party

After years of birthday parties filled with mermaids, princesses, gymnastics, and teddy bears, I have to say it was a lot of fun to plan a "boy" party. Since Luke is obsessed with any kind of construction vehicle- he calls it a "struction" truck- it was an easy choice for theme!

We planned the party for the Saturday morning after his birthday and just invited a few boys from the neighborhood and other friends. Wanted to keep it small so it didn't get too overwhelming for him. But we had talked up the party, and he was pretty excited about it. Especially when he woke up to find a huge bunch of balloons waiting for him...

along with his "struction" hat...

and some frosting! My taste tester took way too many swipes. :)

We had set up several play stations for the kids where they could play playdoh, drive cars, build a wall with large blocks, get dirty in the sandbox, and set up construction legos.

The food was all of Luke's favorite things: strawberries, yogurt, Pirates' booty, and cucumbers/hummus. And chocolate cake!

The favors were a hard hat and construction vehicle.

Finally, the guests began to arrive...

And Luke had a pretty big package to open up...

 How cute is this digger?!?

My favorite décor piece from the party was definitely the road through our kitchen. :)

The boys liked driving the vehicles the best...

but were also into the food. :)

The girls preferred to be away from the boys jumping on the bed!

Luke got shy when it was time for cake...

but obviously, he was a pro with blowing out the candles.

After cake, they had a lot of fun with the playdoh...

 even the big girls.

And eventually, once the sugar kicked in, things got silly. :) It was a cute boy party for the cutest boy I know! Happy TWO Luke!
