A Basketball Weekend

Time for some games! Saturday mornings in February mean Upward basketball and look what cute visitor came to watch Collins play...

Then on Sunday, we got tickets to watch the NC State women play. We took our time getting to Reynolds Coliseum...

and then watched a tight game in a pretty raucous atmosphere. Hopefully, it inspired our girls to be competitive when they play basketball. A fun weekend!

A Special Kind of Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day started out with a fun new Squishmallow...

a finished London Bridge...

a school day...

and then a very exciting visit...from Poppy, Nana, Alli and Sawyer!

Addie loves her some Sawyer...

And Nana loves some time with her grands...

Sawyer literally has the cutest pajama collection of all time.

We had a little birthday celebration for Collins and would you believe that she made her own birthday cake? You probably would. Didn't it turn out pretty?

Howling Cow ice cream, a new cookbook and a new Legos set made this girl pretty happy!

We normally don't do much to celebrate Valentine's Day, but this year it turned out to be a special one!

Doughnut Day

A visit to the 2's class yielded time with my boy, a doughnut and perhaps the most treasured craft of all time...

How sweet is this foot bookmark?

Luke really likes his class this year- it is very boy and truck-heavy. It was fun seeing him in action at school.

Collins Turns Nine!

Is there any better way to start a birthday than with monkey bread...

delivered straight to your bed?!? Happy 9th birthday, Collins!!!

Collins's request for a birthday breakfast in bed was granted, but she wasn't counting on so much fire. That's what happens when you turn nine, C. She does not like fire, so she blew out those candles as quick as possible.

This was a sweet moment before our birthday party...

She ate quickly so she could get to the present part...did you know that Collins is the last person in the family to have a birthday in our winter birthday extravaganza? It is not easy waiting while you watch your Mom, your brother, your sister, and then your Dad celebrate birthdays pretty close to each other. It's not easy to watch all the party planning, the gift opening, and the cake eating- all while waiting patiently for your special day. But finally her day was here, and we were going to make it a special one...

She loved her new Lego set and fancy new desk chair!

All dressed up for school, and so very grown-up-looking now that she was officially nine.

I don't get to take her lunch treats often, but I was glad I was able to on her birthday. And I even granted the milkshake request!

She celebrated with her class with a cookie cake...and how is she so much taller than Caroline and Deauna??

Back at home, she dove right into her Eiffel Tower before it was time to head to dinner. I had the idea that it might be special to her if Brian and I took just her to dinner, and she loved that plan (and the littles weren't too offended by it).

And of course we went to Coquette because I am all about a theme. We had to help with the menu a bit because she hasn't mastered the language quite yet...

And note to self...resist the urge the next time you want to order a burger with a fried egg and bacon ON TOP OF A CROSSOINT. It is simply too much, and it will not make you feel nice.

It was really fun being out just the three of us...

and the final cherry on top of the birthday festivities? Ice cream of course.

What a wonderful celebration of our Collins it was! With each year that passes I am more impressed by, more in love with, more interested in, more excited for our girl. She is lovely and kind and creative and smart, and I couldn't be more proud of the person she has become. I also can't wait to see what she does next...Collins- the clock is officially running- lets see what you do with year nine! Whatever it is, I know it will be great. Happy birthday to the girl we love so much.
