Christmas at Mimi's

Whew! That's how I felt as soon as we stepped foot into Mimi's house. We made it to the really fun part of Christmas- celebrating with family! This year all the lead up to the holiday felt rushed to me. There were definitely lots of special moments in the month of December, but I did not feel like I actually relaxed and took in all the joy of the season until that afternoon we arrived at Mom's house. From then on, it all about having fun, hanging out with our family, eating good food, and celebrating Christmas!

Luke immediately started getting into all the Christmas decorations....

while the girls insisted on a bath in Mimi's giant tub.

It took the girls a long time to warm up to Zoe and Lilly, but Luke not so much. It will probably take the doggies a long time to warm up to Luke because he likes to grab their fur!

The next morning, we headed over to Baba's house...

 There was some performing...

 and we admired Baba's decorations.

Then headed to the "park with the giant orange slide"!

Then back at Mom's everyone else started arriving...first Nat, then Al, and finally Brian. The festivities could finally begin!

After dinner it was time for presents, and of course the girls headed straight for the curiously-shaped packages that looked like giant pieces of candy...

and could not have been more excited to find sleeping bags inside! A great first gift of Christmas...

The dogs were also fans of the new sleeping bags...

Luke also had an interesting-shaped gift that turned out to be his own anywhere chair. Now (theoretically) he would not have to climb all over his sisters' chairs!

There was a cool banging thing...

 a jewelry kit...

 some fast new shoes...
 and a tee pee!

It was a really fun night and the perfect kick-off to Christmas!

Christmas Break!!

Collins was counting down the days until her Christmas break- she was READY! I really do think she needed a break from school. Her class party turned out great (loved the reindeer treat bags!), and then it was time for a BREAK!

Basketball!

So we are trying a new sport this winter...basketball! Collins is playing, and Brian is coaching. They're doing it with Upward Basketball which is a great organization. It is Christian-based, and Collins is playing with girls in the 1st-3rd grades. She didn't know anybody on her team going in, but she has made friends and is slowly learning the game.

She is really cute in her uniform, and she is not the only one interested in playing the game...

They play at Trinity Baptist church, and practice on Tuesday afternoons and play games on Saturday mornings. Brian is finally realizing his dream of coaching one of his kids in a sport!

The Lady Gators play games throughout January and February. We'll see how our first season of basketball goes!

Gingerbread Decorating Party

Well it's not as easy and whimsical as it sounds...we found that out the hard way! Mandy, Andrea and I were excited to get all our daughters together and decorate gingerbread houses and sugar cookies to celebrate the holiday. We had a great time, but don't know that any of us left with intact and decorated houses. :)

We attempted...

and got very messy...and most of the times it was the big girls doing the decorating and not the little ones.

Because there was jumping and playing to do of course!

We were a little more successful at cookie decorating because it involved lots of lots of sprinkles...

Luke was really excited to crash the girl party and steal a cookie...

Love these girls and the time we get to spend together!
