Easter Chick

Collins is really excited about Easter this year. She took it upon herself to pull out all of our Easter baskets and decor from the closet and proclaim dramatically, "I can't wait ANY LONGER for Easter to come!"

Her sense of urgency is why we braved the cold yesterday to put up our Easter tree. She's a pretty cute Easter chick...or is she a ham? :)

Girly Fun

Although she's not afraid to get dirty and can make good contact with a ball, Collins somehow turned out VERY girly. She loves playing dress-up, getting her toe nails painted, pretending she is a princess, and wearing dresses. It was right up her alley when we played salon yesterday- I curled her hair and finally agreed to paint her finger nails for the first time.

It's always interesting to see what she can dig out of my closet for dress-up...

and apparently she thought Addie's normal pajama look was not quite dressy enough. A skirt was the perfect addition!

It will be interesting to see if Addie is equally as girly as her sister!

Pancake Saturdays

Brian and Collins have a standing pancake breakfast date on Saturday mornings. They normally go to "the pancake store" (Whole Foods), but we mixed it up this past Saturday. Addie and I got to tag along, and we ate at Big Ed's which serves one impressive pancake!

Princess Play

"Let's play princesses!"

We hear Collins say this phrase A LOT. What this means is that you put on a pink dress or tutu and have a dance party. Brian plays a princess most days. This morning, Collins got her sister in on the action.

Spring Tease

I think I speak for everyone when I say, "enough with Winter!". It's been a miserably cold and long winter around here, and the tease of Spring this past week put a smile on all of our faces. We spent entire days outside...including an afternoon at the art museum's outdoor sculpture park when Mom and Baba came for a visit.

Collins and Nora Rose had a great time playing at a natural play space called Prarie Ridge on a 75 degree day earlier this week.

Even Addie was enjoying the weather (or the visit from Mimi and Baba) giving us lots of coos and smiles...

Temperatures plunged almost 40 degrees yesterday. I'm officially over coats, sickness, and being indoors. Bring on beautiful Spring- we are ready!

First Report Card

Collins got her first official school assessment last week, and it was nice to have someone other than a family member confirm what a good girl she is!

Her teachers described Collins as happy and confident, engaging and curious, observent and eager to share her thoughts, social and kind. Looks like we might need to help her work on dealing with social conflict, but that's a normal challenge with most preschoolers. Overall our little person is on the right track, and we're really proud of her first report card!

Addie at Two Months

Miss Addie made great progress between her one and two-month check-ups. She weighed 7 lbs 1 oz at month one and jumped all the way up to 10 lbs 1 oz in month two. She gained two inches in height and her head grew as well. Dr. Carr said her growth had rebounded so quickly that she should no longer be considered a preemie! After her first round of immunizations, we were on our way happy with the good report.

In her second month, Adddie made us smile with her bright eyes, her more predictable schedule, her late-night snuggles, and her emerging sweet personality.

First Smile

How thrilling it was to see Addie smile for the first time! I started taking her picture at the beach because she looked so cute and small sitting in the crook of Brian's arm, and all of a sudden she just smiled! And somehow I managed to capture the moment on film!

After months of blank stares, it is so gratifying to see recognition and happiness in your sweet baby's eyes. We are so excited to see Addie pass this first special milestone, and we look forward to all her future smiles!

Fast Friends

Collins and "Drew from Davidson" don't get to hang out often, but made up for lost time at the beach last weekend. These two had a great time together!

Free at Last

Per doctor's orders, we hid Addie away from the world for her first two months. Having a winter baby is not easy because you have to worry about them catching the flu or RSV. So for eight weeks, Addie was stuck to the confines of our house with only the occasional trip to Gigi's house and preschool drop-off. It was a LONG winter, but we are finally free!

When we needed to get out of the house, we would take walks around the neighborhood to get some fresh air. Collins can now make it around the whole loop on foot- even after stopping to climb the occasional tree!

Our days indoors were spent getting the wiggles out...

and logging lots of time playing (the doll house is a favorite and dress up is  a given!).

We survived the quarantine, and are now out and about. We've replaced stir-crazy for logistically-crazy! :)
