After the big day was officially over, I breathed a huge sigh of relief and totally relaxed. It didn't matter that we had one more Christmas celebration to enjoy that night. The stress completely left my body, and we moved on to the fun stuff.
Namely, making sure I photographed this cute firefighter...
Poppy and Nana created yet another "Elf Yourself" video that blew my kids' minds...
because this time they were doing hip-hop! :)
Brian had the good idea to take everyone to see his new office building- the NC General Assembly.
We got a good sense of its unique architecture and history...
and checked out Brian's office...cool view downtown.
So glad we got the tour! But it was time to focus in on lunch...
We went to the Morgan Street Food Hall- a modern day food court- where I got one of the best burgers I've ever had.
And we tried the new rolled ice cream...delicious but not sure it was worth the wait.
Back at home, we got things ready for our traditional cioppino meal and let the kids play outside...
Testing out the new rollerblades...
Finally time for appetizers, wine, and presents!
Best gift you can give Collins right now? A gift card to Claire's!
And guess what Luke got?!?! His own red scooter. Night made!
Turns out he is already speedy fast on that thing. 👀
Dinner was delicious, and then I watched "Home Alone" before going to bed. Love that movie.
The next day, we went to an IMAX with Dad and Heather. It was a fantastic movie about our oceans.
Excited to see this beautiful bloom at Christ Church...
And then ducked inside the church to show Dad and Heather how quaint it is...
Then, since we had seen the modern day General Assembly, we decided to tour the Capital Building to view the original one. We were impressed by the Senate and House chambers and all the history that happened there.
Finally, it was time to say goodbye to the Grandparents because they had to head back to Hickory. But what a wonderful visit we had with them! Elena sent them on their way. :)
And now Christmas festivities were officially over. What next?!?
