A Special Day at School

Collins is the 11th youngest kid in her class of 14. That means she has waited "patiently" as ten other kids have celebrated their special day- bringing in special snacks, ringing the bell, basically being the center of attention- hoping her day would come soon. She has been telling us for months that for her special day she wanted Daddy AND Mommy to be the helping parent.

Well her special day finally came, and she got her wish. We all headed to school with some birthday cupcakes (aka muffins- The Raleigh School doesn't like sugar), pink sparkly plates and some crazy straws. She was really excited about her special day, and you'll see this in the pictures because she couldn't stop smiling! It was a really fun morning for all of us...

The first part of their day is unstructured free play...

They were packaging Valentines gifts they made for their parents...

Collins took great pride in ringing the "clean-up" bell...

At circle time, she counted everyone that was present...

Ms. Escuti did a birthday rhyme and Collins got to participate...

This was cute...Collins chose four kids to be the candles and everyone else was the cake and they sang "Happy Birthday" as they moved around her. Then she blew out her candles...

Play time...

Collins and Ramona have become good friends and always play together outside...

Impromptu class photo...

Collins got to pick the songs the class sang during music time with Mr. Vatel...

Snack and straws were a hit!

The last part of her "Special Day" was to share her favorite items from home: a flashlight, her Elsa heels, and her new hard hat from Park City.

They did a really good job of making her feel special about turning four!
