Strawberry Baking Championship

This year we went strawberry picking not for the experience but for the berries! Collins and I decided to have a strawberry baking championship, and we needed lots of fresh strawberries for this project. We both researched recipes, and she decided to make a strawberry buckle and I decided to make a cheesecake with strawberry glaze. But first to the fields!

I had been buying strawberries from Aldi's, and no offense to my fave store, but they have not been super impressive. So Luke was quite surprised when he bit into his first bright red berry. Pretty sure we ate as many as we bought that morning...

A gorgeous and delicious crop this year!
Back at home, we went straight to baking. Collins was totally into it, and Addie was the judge. Can you tell they really enjoy this Food Network show? :)

Her buckle turned out great! She even made a homemade whipped cream to go with it.

Which she could not stop eating by the way...

My cheesecake turned out good too. Great flavor and pretty with the strawberry topping.

Since Addie was the judge, you know who won the contest...her sister! It was a fun new way to use our strawberries from Page Farm.
