Duke Gardens

A day off from school...it's Friday...it's Spring! So many reasons to be excited a few weeks back. We took advantage of a Friday with all three of the kiddos off by road tripping to Durham. Because the Duke Gardens were in full bloom! A garden in bloom did not excite my children; however a picnic with a Mad Hatter cookie did. So off we went!

Once they got there, they realized the gardens were actually pretty cool. Because we got to watch this heron hunt and catch a fish...Luke did not stop talking about this bird the rest of our visit.

The gardens really were beautiful and in full bloom...and very crowded!

 We visited the koi pond...

 then explored a little bit...

before finding a shady spot for a picnic. And yes- I let them eat their cookies first! We were having such a charming time I couldn't resist this little treat.

LOVE Mad Hatter Bakery in Durham..

They ran around, watched some geese get wild, climbed a tree, and then it was time to go...

We had so much fun! It was a gorgeous Spring day and a nice treat to picnic in such a pretty place. Next stop? Croisdale Country Club...Alli invited us over for a tour. Her club was really impressive, and Collins decided she wanted to live there. :) But time to head back to Raleigh. But so glad we used our morning off to visit Durham!
