Reinforcements Arrive

Mimi and Alli to the rescue! I love knowing that I get Mom's help for a whole week after one of our babies is born. And this time around I got Alli's help too. And Donna's and Brian's...it took a whole team to run my household that first week we were home with Luke.

But it wasn't all work. One afternoon, Brian and Mom took the girls to the Executive Mansion to see their Christmas open house...love this sweet picture.

And there was lots of baby snuggling...

although some family members were less anxious to hold the fragile newborn! :)

He did sleep a little on his own in this miracle bed, the Rock n' Play...

Between trying to keep Luke happy, making sure everyone was fed, and getting everyone where they needed to go each day, there wasn't tons of spare time. But we did manage to fit in a few Christmas activities while Alli and Mom were here. We decorated chocolate-dipped Oreos that were so good! The rest of us made about three; Collins cranked out about 12. :)

The girls made a gingerbread house...

and we played outside. This topsy-turvy photo summed up our current state-of-affairs pretty well!

And of course, when all else fails...TV!

Luke had some big moments that first week. He started becoming a little more alert...

and out-of-the-blue he met Santa for the first time! We ordered a pizza one night, and were shocked to see Santa walk up to our front door to deliver it! It really threw the girls and they ran and hid behind the playroom door. But Luke took full advantage of Santa being at his house and got his picture taken with him for the first time...

And of course there was some sibling bonding happening that week...

Despite the challenges of trying to figure out sleep, I realize that with Mom and Alli there it was our honeymoon week. They made all the work do-able because of all the extra hands, and they were just fun to have around. That is precisely why I cried when they left. Honeymoon was over! Time for reality to set in and for me to take over these three kiddos!
