Worked Like a Charm

I could not believe it standing there looking at the scales. We went back to the doctor for another weight check this week, and although we all thought Collins had filled out some since last week, we would never guessed that she could have gained 21 oz in 8 days! The formula worked its magic. Last week she weighed 9 lbs. This week she weighed 10 lbs 5 oz! I feel badly that she obviously wasn't getting the nutrients she needed from me, but am thankful that she is back on track and now growing like a weed!

As she continues to fill out, she gets cuter by the day. This new chunkiness is not only adorable, but it has finally moved her out of newborn clothes and into her 0-3 months wardrobe. Yah for new outfits!

Bath time provided us with some good proof of the new chunkiness factor:

I'm the Lucky One

I was very excited to celebrate my first Mother's Day this past Sunday. Brian took the baby early on and let me sleep an extra hour which is about the best gift I could get these days. Then he and Collins went to Panera and got me a huge coffee and muffin, followed by a trip to the farmer's market to pick out some plants. These small things made me very happy, but throughout the day I kept thinking- I am the lucky one. I am so incredibly lucky to have this healthy baby girl and to have the chance to be a Mom. I'm going to try hard to never take this experience for granted because I have already learned in three short months that being a Mom is the coolest, most challenging and scary, special thing I have ever done.

Daddy Dressed Me

When Daddy goes into the closet, there is no telling what might come out. A recent example:

A cute two-some, but let's look closer:

Weight Check

So an update on C's weight gain (or lack there of). We went back to the doctor on Tuesday, one week from our last appointment, and Collins had only gained 1 ounce. It's not good when the pediatrician walks into the exam room with a frown on her face. We all decided nursing exclusively is not working so we are now supplementing with formula. So far she seems to like it fine so we are hopeful the pounds are coming! She already feels heavier to me, but its probably just wishful thinking at this point! I will keep you all updated...

A Royal Obsession

Apparently Collins has jumped on the bandwagon and become obsessed with the royal wedding like the rest of the United States. Her internal clock must have been set because she woke us up wailing at precisely 4:00 a.m.- right on time for the wedding coverage to begin. I have to say this is one of the first times I was kind of excited to be woken up in the middle of the night- there has been so much press on this I was curous to see the spectacle. And it was actually pretty cool! Watching all the royals roll up in these sleek black cars sporting weird hats was fascinating and Kate made a beautiful bride. We stayed up from 4:00 - 6:30 a.m. and then it was back to bed. Too bad there is no good TV to look forward to tonight in the wee hours of the morning...

Skinny Girl

Normally this is a welcomed description for most ladies, but not my lady! Collins is gaining weight very slowly. She was born 7 lbs 1 oz, and she's only up to 8 lbs 15 oz now. Everyone who sees her whether that's at the grocery store or wherever we go comment on how tiny she is and that's because she is! She is still in newborn clothes for heaven's sake! The doctors are watching it, but aren't overly concerned yet because she checks out good and healthy otherwise. So my mission each day is to fatten her up! Stay tuned for new developments on this one...

Say Cheese...

When I first got pregnant, I told my friend Jen that I was worried I wouldn't be a good Mom. She reassured me that I would be a great Mom simply because of my love of seasonal decorating and holiday festivites- she said kids really get into that. Well, I had a chance to test this particular passion/mothering skill this past weekend with Easter- our first big holiday with Collins. What I learned is that holiday decorating is even more fun with a little one so my daughter better watch out- there is much more cheese where this came from. Lets just hope she will someday appreciate my enthusiasm for holidays and not find it annoying/embarrasing.

Aunt Alli and I attempted a bunny cake, remembering how much we used to love them when Mom made them when we were little...

Lunging for a Reeses peanut butter egg and who can blame her?

Sheer excitement from the Easter bunny's visit...
