Beware of VBS germs! Because your sisters are not having any germs in their wing of the house!
The Hot Dog Gang- Luke's VBS class- was dropping like flies the week we were at church. So it was no surprise to me when he got sick the Friday night after VBS. It started with a cough and then a fever so I assumed it was COVID. But after two negative COVID tests, I thought it was probably just a bad cold virus.
Then when on Monday he turned the corner, I thought he was fine until his eye started swelling shut Monday night! After a scary call to the on-call doctor who asked me if his eyeball was protruding from his head (what?!?! I don't think so!), we got some late-night prescription eye drops because turns out, he had a bad eye infection. We were instructed to wake this poor boy at 9 pm, 12 am, 3 am, and 6 am to give him eye drops. It was awful! He will probably forever hate eye drops because of that long night.
Well turns out that the eye infection spread to the other eye so he had two wonky eyes AND an ear infection. Then he broke out in hives which we thought was an allergic reaction to the Amoxicillian.
Bottom line- after three visits to the doctor- Luke was okay, and we don't think he is allergic to penicillin. But talk about a rough week! This week was supposed to be our fun start to summer, but that did NOT happen!
