Once our VBS week was over, Laura had the fabulous idea to celebrate with a family outing on their boat. The girls were thrilled because they thought that Sarah, Ashley, and Brandon Stanziale were the coolest kids they had ever met. So we ended up at Falls Lake the following Saturday morning like this...yes, we could get used to lake life!
We swam, we told stories, and we even listened to our "Roar" theme song... :)
He got up with no problem and looked like a natural!
Our lake day was smack in the middle of Luke's nap time so he swung from fits of happiness...
to seriousness to screaming when we started going really fast. Laura had to turn their blasting music from "Old Town Road" to "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" to help calm him down lol. We were all singing it, and it worked! Then Brian insisted that we change the toddler music. :)
Then they asked Collins if she wanted to try and ski, and she said yes without hesitation...
and of course, she got up immediately too! She is so athletic like her Dad so I was not all that surprised that she skiied on her first attempt. But I was really proud of her! I was never able to get up on skis.
Then she tried a second time and did it again without a problem! So happy she got to experience something new and cool that day.
Our girls acclimated pretty quickly to lake life...too bad we don't own a boat. 😆
Then the Stanziales got out their very large raft. I'm telling you the toys kept coming out of that boat!
Despite this tired face, we all had a great time that day. It was the perfect way to celebrate finishing VBS and celebrating the new friendship our families had formed. Because of all the work that was required leading up to VBS, I didn't feel like our summer had really started until that day on the lake. But man did it start off with a bang! It will definitely be one of the highlights of our summer.
