Oh, I'm so proud of this girl! It was not an easy undertaking- participating in your first swim meet. Addie had to find the right lane for warmups, make sure her number was marked on her arm, find her team in the clubhouse, sit and wait for the start with people she didn't know, then swim a race in front of hundreds of people. Umm...I'm pretty sure I could not have handled that type of pressure when I was five. But she DID! She was definitely nervous for her first meet and wanted me to stay close by. But she did not get upset, and she waited patiently for her turn to swim (this meet she only swam the backstroke b/c that was what she was most comfortable doing), and she swam a great race!
Love that they can do swim team together now...and that might be Addie's favorite part.
Looking all professional with a swim cap, goggles and her number!
Once the meet got started, she was okay and ready to do her swim.
Dad giving her a pep talk...
Patiently waiting her turn...
She actually swam a really great race! She was near the front of the swimmers until she swam too close to the wall and it slowed her down a bit. Go Addie girl!
She got out of the pool pretty proud of herself although she was mad she didn't win. :)
But most importantly, she got one of the coveted ribbons...she had seen all of Collins's ribbons over the years and she needed one of those things for herself.
Big sister's turn...
Whew! We survived Addie's first meet. I was way more nervous than she was, but as usual, she blew me away with her confidence. She could have cried, she could have drowned, she could have refused to participate, but she did none of those things and instead swam her very best. Guess she is ready for swim team!
