It is very normal in our house to get out of bed to find Dad doing this...
Especially if it's Labor Day because you know he is cooking a pig. Time for the Blenheim neighborhood Pig Pickin!
Brian was up cooking that pig all night so it was very upsetting to hear that first crack of lightning about 4:30 p.m. (the party started at 5 p.m.). Yes, the heavens decided to open up RIGHT AT THE START OF THE PARTY. Sigh...
It rained hard for hours, but I was quite impressed by our neighbors. Tents quickly popped up and the food was moved under them. People gathered under the porch and umbrellas and still had a good time! I had the nicest time talking with one of the first residents of Blenheim that I had never met before. Addie got to talk to her new teacher Ms. Barnes who lives down the street from us. People did not leave early because it was raining- they actually kept arriving! The rainy party was actually really fun. Thankful that all of Brian's work was not wasted and thankful to live in this great neighborhood.
