Could Luke really be old enough to go to preschool? It didn't seem possible, yet the moment had arrived. I should not have been nervous seeing how I had already done this twice with two other babies, but somehow this time felt harder...
Because he's never stayed with anyone except grandparents! How in the world was he going to handle being left with strangers and other crying babies? For three hours? Brian did not see it going well and unfortunately, he was right. More on that later.
So we got the school bag and the cute first day outfit and off he went! (good thing confident big sister is going with him to school...this is the only year they will be at Hayes Barton together)
This face sums it up. He was not having it...school that is.
Luke's teachers are Ms. Betsy and Ms. Susan, and they are both lovely and sweet. He has 9 other kids in his class, and he only goes on Tuesdays. When we dropped him off, he immediately got distracted with the train table so not knowing the best way to handle goodbyes- we just left! I felt horrible for not saying goodbye to him, but I knew that would upset him and I thought it was maybe better this way.
So then we dropped off Addie, and she did absolutely great. She has Ms. Poetzsch and Ms. Barnes this year in the 4 days 4's. She is completely past the separation anxiety that plagued her at the end of the school year last year. I know she is going to have a good year!
Then we circled back over to Luke's class to see how he was doing. He was screaming. Hard. Ugh, I know it will get better soon but it is so hard to leave your baby in that situation. I am remembering that adjusting to school is not easy for anyone- baby or mama!
