1st Day of First Grade!

This girl was excited and ready when the first day of first grade rolled around. Gone was the hesitation and anxiety of kindergarten! How wonderful to see her confident and happy walking into Lacy that first day...

Brian and I both walked her in because we hadn't had the chance to meet Mrs. Barefoot, her new teacher, because we were at the beach during Meet the Teacher. And turns out her assistant is a new teacher, Heather York, who we already knew because Brian is friends with her husband, Allen.

It was the first cool, crisp morning of the year- perfect Fall-like weather for back to school!

It worked out really well that the Moores happened to pull up at just the right time so Reeves and Collins could walk in together. But they ran into each other's arms for a big hug first. :)

 Umm, adorable...

She was happy walking into her classroom and putting her book bag in her cubby. She was a little shy around her teachers, but was good as she found her seat and we walked out the door. Wow...this was a MUCH easier transition than kindergarten. For that, I am very grateful!

Collins was all smiles when we picked her up that afternoon. We saw her coming down the first grade hall chatting it up with her friend, Ellie (the only person from her kindergarten class who is in her 1st grade class- and it's a really cute girl who she was already friends with). We played on the playground after school and another little girl was out there playing too. Turns out, she was in Collins's class, and her name is Brooke. A new friend!

Last year on her first day of school, I got Collins a little cake to celebrate. I decided this might be a good tradition to start- to get my sugar-lover excited about starting school. :)

Great start for this first-grader. I have a feeling this is going to be a great year for her!
