Fourth of July Festivities

The Fourth of July started off dreary and wet. Not exactly what we were hoping for, but it worked out okay because Wimbledon was on all day and we had a party to plan. The Moores were coming over to join us for a cookout and to participate in the 2nd Annual Blenheim July 4th bike parade!

"Severe" thunderstorms were predicted for that afternoon, so we were shocked when the sun came out right before the parade. What good timing! Collins and Reeves set out on a friendly bike parade that quickly turned into a "bike race" with them and the other neighbors. Apparently, our girls are competitive much! As Brian tried to keep up with them on foot, they took on Sam and Davis in the extreme heat. They came back from the "parade" needing lots of hydration!

Sara and I kept up with the little ones who did not have such an easy lap around the neighborhood! They were all smiles at first, but those little legs tired quickly and the melting began...and guess who ended up carrying/pushing them home? :) The pregnant one and the one already carrying baby Grey!

The big girls got pretty girly right away- changing into maxi dresses, taking pictures of everyone and everything on the iPad, playing with the dolls, and doing the balance beam...we got a little fast forward to their teenage years which was a little alarming!

Collins took this shot...

and Reeves took this one. Not too bad!

Tyler and Addie felt the need to whack the ball...

Burgers were on the menu for dinner...

and ice cream sandwiches...

Dinner was anything but quiet for us parents as most everyone had a meltdown at some point, kids were running crazy all over the house, and Tyler showed up nude at one point. But it was really fun...the kids didn't want to leave because they were having such a good time.

Turns out we needed no fireworks after all the heat and the crazy party, just sleep. :) It was a really fun way to spend the 4th!
