Christmas Eve

After we properly celebrated our fabulous new six-year-old, we turned our attention to the celebration of Christmas. First, the Christmas Eve service at church...

We go to the 3 p.m. service, and it is CROWDED. I mean like squeeze-your-self into your neighbor, fill-up-the-balcony crowded. It is one of the "family" services which means it's loud. So it was not easy for me to find a spirit-filled moment until the very end when we lit our glow sticks (no old-school candles allowed for the kiddos) and sang "Silent Night". Now it wasn't completely silent in the sanctuary, but it was pretty and I was so happy to be remembering Jesus's birth with my family.

After church, we headed to Gigi's and Pop Pop's for Christmas Eve dinner...

where we opened some pretty fabulous gifts including a John Deere tractor!

Luke could not believe this motorized tractor was actually his, and I could not believe how fast it could go. This thing has two speeds (both of which are fast and one of which is crazy fast), a reverse, and a radio that actually works. The present of Christmas 2019? I'm thinking so!

We had a wonderful prime rib dinner (Brian's favorite) and finished things off with chocolate and peppermint (my favorite). It was a wonderful night and one that I'm pretty sure Luke will never forget!

We ran home to get into bed because everybody knows that Santa only comes when you're asleep. So those kids could not throw themselves into pajamas fast enough and hop into bed.

What a great day it was. Christmas Eve is not relaxing at all for our family, but every minute of it is filled with something special and fun. How lucky we are to enjoy Christmas Eve to its very fullest!
