Lemonade & Baseball

Lemonade and baseball...it doesn't get much more summery than that! The first Saturday of July the girls begged to make a lemonade stand which I argued it was TOO hot for, but they insisted. See their red cheeks?

Luke was a frequent customer, and they actually made quite a bit of money. They were thrilled!

Then I had the idea to go to a Mudcats baseball game. We had never been before, and it seemed like a fun and different way to spend a Saturday night. Of course it was a thousand degrees outside and the kids would be up way past their bedtime, but why not try give it a try? I was clearly feeling the loosey-goosey summertime vibe. :)

Then all of a sudden, Luke shouted, "LOOK!!!" We had found the giant baseball and Zebulon, NC. Time to play ball!

The kids were not into this baseball game at first. It was hot, and they were hungry.

Then the sun started to go down and the heat eased up a bit. That helped, and then we got to go up to the press box thanks to Hayes's job as the Mudcats announcer. That was pretty cool.

Then we got ice cream and that really sweetened the deal. Now we were having fun!

Then we tried out different seats...

and met Muddy the Mudcat...

and watched an awesome fireworks display...

and then ran the bases! AND they got to stay up till 10 p.m.! The kids ended up loving the whole baseball experience. Luke talked about Muddy the Mudcat for weeks after asking, "When can we go again???"

What a fun Summer Saturday!
