Third Grade Wax Museum

Talk about getting into a project! Collins has not always gotten excited about school, but third grade has brought it with some cool assignments. It is a tradition at Lacy for third graders to participate in a Wax Museum where they can choose anyone famous and research them, write a report/poster on them, dress up as them and then present their character with a monologue to all the parents.

Collins immediately chose Marie Antoinette as her character (b/c she was a fancy queen), but didn't realize that this woman had a rather sad story...off with her head!!! In doing the research on her, she even started crying realizing what a hard life she had led. But on she went, fine-tuning her outfit and rehearsing her monologue for us. Let's just say she nailed that French accent!

Finally, the day of the big show had arrived and Collins was ready. She did a great job with her performance- speaking clearly (maybe a little quickly) and had one of the best costumes in 3rd grade. Her friends had cute costumes too- Peyton and Alice were both Annie Oakley, Reeves was Jackie Kennedy, Kate was Princess Diana and Caroline was Amelia Earhart. Parents went around to each kids' desk and pushed the button that would activate the character (just like at a wax museum!). It was a neat project, and you could tell all the kids got into it. Proud of our Collins and all the hard work she put into transforming to the French queen. What a fun way to learn about history!
