Right before Christmas, the skies dumped buckets of rain in North Carolina. We are talking a driving rain for two days straight. It caused flood warnings because the ground was already saturated from an unusually high amount of rain this Fall/Winter. Lately, I have been thankful that Brian Fork insists on having a house high up on a hill. I'm also thankful that Poppy and Nana just got Addie fully decked out in rain gear. She needed it. (Collins called her a "polka dot monster". ) :)
So after days of gloomy, wet weather, the sun finally came out for Christmas. Whew! But who would have guessed that record-high temperatures would come with it? It was in the 70's during Christmas week which was really bizarre. It was not very festive that tights were unnecessary for the Christmas Eve service and that polos and shorts were spotted at church. And how funny that of all times Collins picked this warm spell to break out the sled?
So now that the New Year is upon us, it randomly turned frigidly cold. I was in the kitchen prepping dinner and look out the window and it was snowing! I was so confused. I thought it was hail, but we all ran outside and sure enough it was snowing. Collins was thrilled, but disappointed that it only lasted a couple of minutes.
After the last month, who knows what the weather holds next? I'll just be sure to keep my shorts/rain boots/puffy snow coat handy just in case. And I'll pray that all this abnormal weather is not the new norm!
