We were really excited to spend our first Christmas at home this year. Last year was supposed to be the first year that happened, but we all know how that turned out!
Collins left out some goodies for Santa, headed to bed, and slept in till a reasonable time before bounding out of bed in search of what Santa brought. We expected her up much earlier than normal, but I think she may be a little young still to lose sleep over Santa. Next year!
She ran into the playroom (Santa comes down the chimney) and found...a pink scooter! Elsa heels! An art set and a tea set! She was beyond excited....
And of course had to test out her two favorite gifts at the same time ...
Addie was not quite as excited about Christmas morning as her sister was, but she did seem to like the farm that Santa left!
Between her advent calendar and stocking, Collins received more chapstick than any three-year-old should have!
Addie got two touch and feel books from Santa...
The reason for the smiles and high fives? Wolfpack tattoos...
She LOVED her Elsa accessories...had been dramatically noting her lack of an Elsa crown and gloves for awhile. :)
Don't see this look on a scooter everyday...
Brian and I were really looking forward to hosting our first-ever Christmas dinner. We schemed up our most festive menu, and set to work. And I'm not going to lie, it was a lot of work. Many thanks to our parents who have always hosted making it look so easy!
Brian smoked his first-ever whole turkey (12 hours!), and it was delicious...
I made a sweet potato rosemary torte that was tasty and pretty...
and a festive (and large!) traditional cranberry trifle to end the meal.
Although meals with the girls are never calm or without interruption, we were so happy to have them with us at the table. For the short bit they were there!
Here's where Addie escaped to...
Christmas was festive and memorable- just what I would hope for our first holiday at home.
