The long holiday weekend started in a fun, yet unexpected place...the bowling alley?!? It was still hot as blazes outside so we decided to take refuge inside a cool, uncrowded, totally retro bowling alley on Hillsborough Street. It was a first for the girls, and they loved it! With it's lack of automated scoring, blaring 80's music, and it's groovy décor- I loved it too.
And I'll give you one guess as to who won our friendly family bowling competition? That's right- Miss Collins. Her reward? To choose where we'd eat dinner that night. She wisely chose Gonza's Tacos and Howling Cow ice cream for dessert. It was a really fun night and a great way to start the holiday weekend.
No sleep for this guy Sunday night after the game! Time for the piggy to go on the smoker. Brian had agreed to cook a pig for our annual Blenheim Labor Day cookout which meant a 16-hour effort on his part. The girls and I headed to bed, although I got back up to help him lift the pig onto the smoker about 1 a.m. Things we will do for a good meal.
After talking about the pig all day, Addie was still a little shocked to see the finished product. Brian did a great job, and the neighbors loved the pig. I headed home early with the girls because Collins was officially starting school the next day. Time for bed!
Really enjoyed our Labor Day this year!
