Party Time!
We held Collins' 3rd birthday party at "nastics" class. The fun and convenience of the gym was just too hard to pass up! The kids had a blast burning off some energy, and the birthday girl led the charge. We finished off some gym time with what else? A pink party!
A White (and Pink!) Birthday
Snow on Collins' birthday?!? I was incredibly disappointed that another winter storm hit canceling school and the valentines/birthday party we had planned for her class. I had wanted to take her out to lunch at her favorite restaurant (Bad Daddy's Burgers) and do all these fun things and yet here we were stuck in the house...AGAIN! No one talks more about their impending birthday more than Collins so the pressure was on to make it really special.
Turns out, a snow day birthday is pretty cool because Dad gets to stay home all day, you have plenty of time to make pink cupcakes, you get to watch movies, and build a snowman. Plus, there's lots of time for jumping on your brand-new trampoline!
Collins has talked non-stop lately about her "billy goat" who she has named "Face". It's the craziest thing- she must have talked about billy goats at school and took the concept and ran with it. "Face" likes to travel from Hickory to Greensboro, eat grass from the backyard, and play with Collins throughout the day. When asked what she wanted for her birthday, she said "a billy goat". So that is what she got below, and you see what kind of enthusiastic response it got!
Donna turned her into a princess for her birthday dinner...
It was a special day for a special little girl!

Weekend at Wrightsville
We love going down to Wrightsville even if it rains all day, your favorite taco place is closed for renovations, and you get pulled for speeding (no ticket!). You still get to eat fresh seafood, look at the beautiful water, and have fun with your family!
Collins rode her bike over to the dock...
had a great time running up and down the dunes...
Collins rode her bike over to the dock...
and playing soccer with Pop Pop.
Addie went down to the ocean for the first time (although napped through the entire experience)...
A fun weekend!

Happy 3rd Birthday Collins!
Dear Collins,
Three years ago today you came into our lives, bringing us more joy than we ever knew was possible. You fill our days with laughter, love and excitement. What a smart, fun, happy little lady you have become- you make us so proud. We can't wait to see what year three holds in store for you, and we love you very much!
P.S. Your sweet Aunt made this video for you. Your second year was pretty special!

Big Girl Room Reveal
Collins has been in her big girl room for months now and is loving it. I love being in the space too because it is warm, inviting and colorful- a room that reflects Collins' personality and a space that she can grow into over the years. Finally the reveal...
Here's the drab guest bedroom before...
And the new big girl room after...
The nightstand and the dresser (to follow) are from Revival Antiques here in Raleigh. We painted over both pieces and sprayed the hardware gold.
It is great to have a room feel "finished". Now on to the other rooms in the house that need lots of help! I hope Collins enjoys this one for a long time to come.

I love reading design blogs and seeing their source list for a room so I'll include mine as well. This room was definitely redecorated on a budget as you will see!
I wanted a warm pink for the walls and decided on "Bridal Pink" by Benjamin Moore. The bed is one that Donna and Marty had in their attic that we gave an extra coat of white glossy paint. The comforter is from Target and the shams and throw are from Pottery Barn Teen. I love the polka dot curtains that Donna (our fabulous seamstress) made. The fabric came from Fabric.com.
The prints are from Etsy (Collins loves the ice cream cone!), and the gold frames are $10 steals from IKEA.
I love the little nook with the desk and the reading corner!
The desk was actually my Mom's when she was little. We gave it a pop of color with Benjamin Moore's South Beach paint.
The bookshelves are IKEA, the lamp is from Target, and the chair is from Pottery Barn Kids. Collins will tell you this is HER chair. :)
Inside Collins' closet is an impressive collection of tutus...ready to be grabbed and donned when the mood strikes.
I loaded down her dresser with pictures of her favorite people so she could see them and smile...chair and lamp are from my fave store Target.
This dollhouse (a Christmas present) is a favorite of hers in the room, along with the fluffy bed that just begs to be jumped on...

Think Pink!
Collins and Bennett love the "Pinkalicious" books so what a treat it was to take them to see the live theater version of "Pinkalicious" last week. They were mesmerized by the play, and how cute they looked in their pink dresses! We finished our girls outing with a tasty lunch. Such a fun morning!
