Brian's good friend, Paul, recently got hired as the new head football coach at Davidson. His coaching debut came this past weekend at the Spring game so we headed to town for the festivities. Collins had the chance to meet three new doggie friends and one future husband. She was also excited to play in Libby and Paige's fort, get dirty at the tailgate party, try her hand at hurdles, eat her first hotdog, and entertain the football coaching staff at a party after the game. It was a big weekend!

Nature Walk
Collins's new favorite thing to do at the park is go in the "forest". We walk through the path in the woods and look for birds in the trees, ducks in the creek, and sticks to throw off the bridge.
As much as we enjoy our nature walks, this is still the reason for coming to the park!

Signs of Life
Our yard is bursting with signs of life right now- some good and some bad. The bad involves a ridiculous number of weeds that have ambushed our grass and a traumatic run-in with our first snake. ICK!!!!!!!!!!
The good life in our yard involves this cute one and her constant demands of "outside!". She walks right out of the front door if we don't stop her.
More good life- I have successfully not killed a plant!
More growth! (thanks to Mom and Baba)
And climbing our first tree.
As we gear up towards Summer, I am trying to forget the ugly snake incident and concentrate on the fun that awaits outdoors!

A Precious Sound
We were driving to gymnastics a few weeks ago blaring the toddler tunes when Collins started singing along to "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star". I didn't even know she knew the words to the song and was absolutely shocked/thrilled to hear her little voice attempt to sing for the first time. It was such a special moment. We have done lots of singing since that day, and "Happy Birthday" is her newest tune. We caught her singing when Mimi was up recently...

A Warm Up... FINALLY!
It has been Spring for almost a month now, and you would never know it. Enough with the cold weather! It finally warmed up in a big way this week, and Collins wasted no time fully embracing it. She hijacked the water hose from Brian's yard chores tonight and made it rain.

First Spring Break
Hickory was the destination for Collins's first official Spring Break trip. She lobbied for Cancun, but I thought she should visit her Grandparents instead. She spent her break from school doing the same types of things those crazy college kids do:
Hanging out with your favorite people...
getting dressed up...
wearing as little clothing as possible...
and eating junk food (Hickory version- Shell's BBQ). It was a great way to spend Spring Break!

Easter at the Beach
Collins summed it up on the way home from the beach this morning- "I love my beach house so much!" Didn't know she had purchased beach property, did you? :)
We spent Easter weekend with the Forks at Wrightsville which was fun. It's neat when you tweak your holiday traditions a bit and do things in a new place (especially if that place is the beach!). We got lots of relaxing in, I got to experience my first sunrise service on the beach, and Collins lived it up on the "big beach".
She did several egg hunts, one of which was on a dock...
She took the polar bear plunge and loved every minute of it...
After finding some fun treats in her Easter basket...
she made a mash dash for the big beach still in her pajamas. Brian had to chase her down.
Later that afternoon, Donna treated her to a bunny cake and treated us to a fabulous Easter dinner. A fun holiday!
